The proportion of pregnant mothers (G1) who smoked was 43%, and the average birthweight of their children (G3) was 3118.9 grams (standard deviation 6088). There was no correlation between a grandmother's smoking during pregnancy and the birth weight of her grandchild. The babies of mothers who smoked in generations G1 and G2, on average, weighed less at birth than babies whose mothers and grandmothers did not smoke (adjusted -22305; 95% CI -41516, -3276).
